In a genuinely hilarious moment at my house today, I learned a valuable lesson: Don't watch the Kansas City Chiefs with two cranky babies in the room. And my daughter Audrey taught me this lesson.

Our cousins Dustin and Kelsey came over with their daughter Olivia, who was born 9 days after Audrey. Neither of them were particularly happy, although Olivia had FINALLY managed to fall asleep. Audrey wanted no part of a nap, and was making us pay for having the AUDACITY to try to make her sleep.

It was during the fourth quarter of the Chiefs-Cardinals game. The Chiefs were backed up deep inside their own territory with a third and 8 and just over 2 minutes to go. Natalie was holding Audrey on her lap, letting her play with the remote control to the television. Big mistake.

The pivotal play in the entire game was the screen pass from Damon Huard to Larry Johnson. As LJ caught the ball and started to race down the sidelines, Audrey picked THAT EXACT MOMENT to hit the channel button. The screen switched to static just as we were all getting excited. We all yelled "HEY!" at the same time, which scared Audrey and caused her to jack herself in the face with the remote control, hurting her pretty bad. She dropped the remote as the combined cacophony of loud television static, Audrey's ear-piercing scream, and me frantically hollering for Natalie to fix the remote. She just thrust it in my face as Audrey howled in pain. I fixed the remote and clicked the channel back in time for the camera to show LJ's motionless body laying facefirst on the 10 yard line.

Dustin said, "I think he's dead."

Little did we know that he had been viciously face-masked by Antrelle Rolle. Butthead.

Oh well. From now on, no more Audrey-remote control during CHiefs games. I will update this with pics from the day, including pics of the two girls BEFORE they got all cranky.

PEACE!
